Julian McCarthy
Julian is a Director at TruePoint, Executive Fellow for the Center for Higher Ambition Leadership, and Faculty Member for TruePoint Center.
For more then 30 years, Julian has advised CEOs, Boards of Directors and senior executives in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia on global strategy, performance transformation, organizational effectiveness, post-merger transition and corporate governance. He has led multiple corporate turnarounds and helped industrial companies expand their global presence. He has served clients in multiple industries including precision manufacturing, ocean shipping, medical devices, industrial distribution, energy, pharmaceuticals, and electronics.
Julian is a certified executive coach with a passion for coaching and mentoring senior executives dealing with rapid change and aspiring to reach a higher performance ambition. He is an experienced Non-Executive Director and a member of the Australian Institute of Corporate Directors.
PAST EXPERIENCE
Julian’s consulting career started with McKinsey & Company, where he became director and senior partner, co-founding and leading multiple practices during his time with the firm. More recently, he was senior advisor at private equity firm Cerberus, leading strategic transformation and top team effectiveness in collaboration with portfolio company CEOs and Boards. He also spent several years as managing director at turnaround consulting firm AlixPartners, helping clients drive large-scale performance transformation, and was previously COO for a private industrial company, driving their expansion in Australia and Southeast Asia.
PERSONAL
Julian is a dual citizen of the US and Australia, dividing his time between both countries. He plays jazz and classical music as a hobby. Julian and his wife share a passion for international travel and outdoor activities including running, alpine hiking and just walking in the woods.
